Jackalope

A hare with horns. This cryptid is said to inhabit Wyoming, America, but, for some reason, he is instead guarding the prison alongside Es. Functions as the guide for “Milgram” and exists to teach Es about the prison, their job as the guard and so on.

His human speech reveals a jocular and talkative personality. However, it seems that only Es can hear his voice.

The protagonist—exists as the audience surrogate. Lost their memories, and once they realized it, they had already become the prison guard of Milgram. Day after day, they fulfill their prison guard duties as told by Jackalope, neither questioning nor giving attention to their origins. To work out the prisoners’ crimes, their reasons, and to judge whether they are forgivable or unforgivable, Es interacts with them.

An ethereal beauty, but their gender remains a mystery.

#01 Haruka Sakurai
Gender: Male · Age: 17 · Height: 174 cm (5'9")
Blood Type: AB · Birthday: June 22

A young male prisoner, quiet with downcast eyes. During Es’ early interrogations, he offered only a few constrained words in response. However, he has gradually become more talkative, forming an emotional bond over the course of his interviews. Once one begins to converse with him, his gentle pre-disposition is revealed.

He has a meek temperament and, even in Milgram, does not appear to be dissatisfied. Barely manages to communicate with Es and the other prisoners. However, during conversations, as if some meaning is lost along the way, there is a disconnect.

#02 Yuno Kashiki
Gender: Female · Age: 18 · Height: 156 cm (5'1")

This prisoner is a high school girl with a neat appearance. Beautiful, laid back, and does as she pleases. Surprisingly, she is capable of reading the moods of those around her, and is skilled at avoiding conflict.

She has a habit of jokingly demanding money from others. Quick to establish a rapport with people, she was even amiable towards Es from the start. She enjoys any special treatment and wholeheartedly rejoices in being favored. No matter what or whose story, she listens with a smile, however she despises things akin to the passionate mindset of seishinron — the notion that any hardship can be overcome through sheer motivation and willpower.

#03 Fūta Kajiyama
Gender: Male · Age: 20 · Height: 165 cm (5'5")
Blood Type: B · Birthday: April 19

A young male prisoner, whose determination is apparent from his fierce-looking eyes. Among everybody in Milgram, he is the most impulsive and outspoken with a violent temper. Endowed with a strong sense of justice, he fiercely rebels against what he deems to be wrong. Argues over legal rights with Es, demanding better treatment.

Because of his extreme mood swings and harsh words, one can easily have the wrong impression of him; he is not a bad person, but rather a faint-hearted, good guy.

#04 Mū Kusunoki
Gender: Female · Age: 16 · Height: 162 cm (5'4")
Blood Type: A · Birthday: July 5

A beautiful female prisoner with an air of purity; her features strongly allude to having non-Japanese origins. Despite what one may infer from her fragile appearance, she is forthright and opposes the abnormal circumstance that is Milgram. Treated Es with extreme caution in the beginning.

Each of her mannerisms suggest a good upbringing; one can imagine that she was likely born into a wealthy household. Perhaps that may explain why her pride is so high as when she clashes with another person, she immediately cries and whines.

#05 Shidō Kirisaki
Gender: Male · Age: 29 · Height: 180 cm (5'11")
Blood Type: A · Birthday: October 24

An adult male prisoner, tall with a gentle expression. Comparatively older among those in Milgram, he always remains calm and composed, unperturbed by most things.

He seems quite insistent on comforting the younger inmates as one might with children, the prison guard included; it is as if he perceives them as such. Despite not understanding the situation in Milgram, he is satisfied with his imprisonment and wishes the death penalty upon himself.

#06 Mahiru Shīna
Gender: Female · Age: 22 · Height: 154 cm (5'0")
Blood Type: B · Birthday: January 17

This prisoner is a cheerful woman, who talks and smiles a lot. Self-sacrificing, devoted and treats others indiscriminately, no matter who they are. Despite being the oldest female in Milgram, she is gullible; often made fun of and deceived by lies, she always laughs it off without a thought. Her presence in Milgram is therapeutic.

In interviews, she openly talks to the prison guard, even harboring special feelings towards them; however, during this time, one can also see an expression different to her usual bright demeanor, one which is mature and forlorn.

#07 Kazui Mukuhara
Gender: Male · Age: 39 · Height: 186 cm (6'1")
Blood Type: A · Birthday: August 5

A middle-aged man and the oldest prisoner in Milgram.

He is nonchalant, often voicing jokes to break the tension. Tall and muscular despite looking slim—he seems to have experience with some kind of martial arts. In groups, he portrays himself as a gentle, sanguine character, however during individual meetings with the prison guard, he is enigmatic and stares, as if he is scrutinising something.

#08 Amane Momose
Gender: Female · Age: 12 · Height: 144 cm (4'9")
Blood Type: O · Birthday: June 27

A little girl and the youngest prisoner in Milgram. She is calm, polite and mature for her age. Always wears a thin smile and shows no signs of distress towards the abnormal circumstance that is Milgram.

Even when disputes occur between the prisoners, she sits at the side, unwilling to participate. Contrary to her adult speech and behavior, her strong belief in God reflects a child-like purity.

#09 Mikoto Kayano
Gender: Male · Age: 23 · Height: 176 cm (5'9")
Blood Type: O · Birthday: June 27

An average guy with a medium build. He is an everyman, confused by the strong characteristics of those in Milgram. As such, he always tries to adapt accordingly to any given situation. Unlike the other inmates, who are aware of the crimes that they have committed, he has no knowledge of what he has done and for what he is imprisoned. Without a doubt, he believes there has been a mistake, some sort of mixup.

Even in the dead of night, one can still hear noise coming from Mikoto’s cell, and as a result, this has become something of a conversational topic among the prisoners, who remain uncertain as to when he sleeps.

#10 Kotoko Yuzuriha
Gender: Female · Age: 20 · Height: 171 cm (5'7")
Blood Type: A · Birthday: December 15

A woman, conventionally cool in both personality and appearance, her piercing eyes being a distinct feature. Tall like a model. Among the other female prisoners of Milgram, who often have lax personalities, she instead revolves around logic and reason. A quick thinker with a silver tongue.

At first glance, she looks cold because of her appearance, speech and conduct etc., but she means no offense, she just tells it like it is. She seems to be observing everybody in Milgram, even more than Es, and also comes to exchange information.
